Like the military, they need the tactical equipment and firearms to meet or exceed the threat. 1SG Larry Everly Fri, 05 Sep 2014 14:20:21 -0400 2014-09-05T14:20:21-04:00 Response by 1SG Steven Stankovich made Sep 5 at 2014 2:27 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/militarization-of-civilian-law-enforcement-is-it-justified-or-not?n=229121&urlhash=229121

In my opinion, I believe that our law enforcement professionals need to be equipped with the right tools to do the job. Criminals do not play by any set of rules and the TTPs of individual criminals all the way through criminal enterprises are evolving very quickly. the men and women who walk the "Blue Line" need to have the tools required to meet and defeat that threat.

With that being said, every "beat cop" does not need more toys and trinkets and firepower than my entire Scout Platoon had in Afghanistan. Law Enforcement has Gang Squads, SWAT, and other special teams who have an operational need for those items that some may deem "military in mature."

At the end of the day, I sleep better at night knowing that those who patrol our streets at night or who are called upon in dire circumstances like active shooter or hostage scenarios, are equipped to defeat the threat. 1SG Steven Stankovich Fri, 05 Sep 2014 14:27:18 -0400 2014-09-05T14:27:18-04:00 Response by MSgt Carl Daubenspeck made Sep 15 at 2014 5:32 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/militarization-of-civilian-law-enforcement-is-it-justified-or-not?n=242373&urlhash=242373

IMHO, it is going way over the edge and only brings on a greater cycle of fear and tyranny. It is definitely SOP for MIL-LEO's when going into any situation, superior strength=little or no resistance and the method being taught to civilian LEO's by the military. So the correct question here is "Why are the military law enforcement instructing civilian peace keepers in the use of force?" What is the real agenda?
