This is NOT a PFT. The PFT standards remain the same. These are OBJECTIVE tasks, which are specialty related, outside the Health Test (PFT).

Marine Corps officials have unveiled new physical standards for more than two dozen ground combat jobs. They took effect Sept. 30.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS . I read this story yesterday. While the list is pretty good it does not tell you what the standard is yet. What is the time of an activity, the weight, distance etc. I am sure that is known at this point.

This will be deemed by many as too rigorous and do we really need to do all of this stuff or is this just another way the Marine Corps is saying "no" to women in specific MOS's.

We are about to see all of this come to a head with the Commandant's recommendation on women in certain MOS's and the Sec Nav's statement on not asking for exemptions. You add these specific standards to the discussion and now you have yourself a party.

Wonder what are the times for the hikes & runs?? It was a 6 min mile for the runs I think?? & forget the times for the hikes probably was a 10 min mile with a pack & weapons ..

All things being equal............shouldn't all things actually be equal? To include physical fitness standards, height and weights standards and grooming standards?

Didn't see anywhere where it required one in combat gear to pick up and fireman carry a 190lb casualty in combat gear and run 100 yds. That is not an unrealistic expectation of what is going to be required to evacuate wounded in ANY combat MOS.

I stopped at the 03 and related tasks. I don't know about anyone else but all of these seem to be fairly routine and done on a daily basis in the field. None of them seem particularly taxing. 20k Hike? WTF, that's not even 10 miles - for infantry?? If you fell out during a 10 mile hump you, you...well, you know what you got.

What's with the 200m movement as an 0331 ammo humper? Really, that's it? It's over 200m from the staging area at just about any 400 series range in 29 Palms. Then the exercise begins. I am sorry but this is just more feel good BS meant to appease the gender inclusion movement. If they are saying this is all that it takes to be in these MOS's, the poor suckers who think this is some sort of marker for success are in for a rude awakening.

You know Marines are hard-asses about their place in history. Be it John Basilone's heroics or Private Schmuckatelli's barracks shenanigans,we remember well. I doubt any Commandant would want to be known as that guy who killed or injured his fellow Marines for PC sake. They'll continue to do their woodshedding on this and get it right. I don't expect anything instantaneous or without bumps, but I have faith it'll get done correctly.
