CNN reports Malaysia Airlines flight crashes in Ukraine. Other sources mention it being shot down. What are you hearing? What are your thoughts?

Thankfully I'm flying to Raleigh on US Air and not Malaysia Airlines!!

I know I will never fly with this airline!!! One plane that still can not be found?!?!?!?!, and now one that either crashed, or was shot down!

"The military commander of the rebels, a Russian named Igor Strelkov, had written on his social media page shortly before the report of the airliner being downed that his forces had brought down an Antonov An-26 in the same area. It is a turboprop transport plane of a type used by Ukraine's forces."

Apparently someone needs some warrior task training on their aircraft identification cards. The spotter was a big time no-go at that station.

I know I am never getting on a Malaysian Airlines plane/flight. Reports are that it was shot down with a Buk missile system. Also known as an SA-17. The likelihood of survivors is extremely low. Especially considering the air craft was flying at 33K feet.

This is an update I found on the Russian news website Pravda.

"UPDATE: The eyewitnesses, who could see the crash of the airliner, say that it was a fighter jet of the Ukrainian Air Force that downed the plane. As a result of the attack, the aircraft split into two and crashed on the territory of the breakaway Donetsk region, the press service of the People's Republic of Luhansk said."

I am sure there will be many contradictory stories hitting the news until the truth finally surfaces.

This is a huge game changer. First off the rebels went from being freedom fighters to terrorists. Who ever supplied them the hardware will be viewed as supporting terrorism. If Russia supplied them the hardware they would face judgement as the world would question their interests in the area. A world power can not support terrorism int order to support their political ambitions at the cost of innocent lives. I wonder what the world response will be and how this story will be spinned to deflect the blame.

Terrible for the passengers and for the families of those passengers.

I have a feeling the debris will be removed or access to it denied by the "rebels"

The Russians are claiming the Ukranians shot it down thinking it was Putin's plane.

We should send the FBI to investigate the murder if an American citizen like we've done in other instances where Americans are murdered overseas. Then we pursue hose responsible for their crimes. IF that means military incursion (such as we did in Afghanistan to get those responsible for the murders of 9/11) then we do so swiftly and decisively. No lingering like last time. But I think we would be better suited to send the FBI or CIA than DoD.

Calling it "an outrage of unspeakable proportions", Obama stopped short of directly blaming Russia for the incident but warned that he was prepared to tighten economic sanctions. He echoed international calls for a rapid and credible investigation and ruling out U.S. military intervention.
