No, I have actually never asked a vet what their injury is/was. That's a little bizarre...and I work in health care! (Excluding medical history obviously)

Part of what we are serving to protect is freedom of speech, including freedom of speech from the uneducated, immature and thoughtless ones too. Agree a little education may go a long way for this young cashier...hope he gets this video. It is a shame that our schools don't have a vet like this come into the schools to help educated the next generation.Response by PO2 Jonathan Scharff made Feb 20 at 2015 1:42 PM2015-02-20T13:42:46-05:002015-02-20T13:42:46-05:00SGT Frank Leonardo488388

The response was a good response and I loved itResponse by SGT Frank Leonardo made Feb 20 at 2015 4:53 PM2015-02-20T16:53:47-05:002015-02-20T16:53:47-05:00LCDR Rabbah Rona Matlow488532

The inside scars - those most hidden, are the most destructive. Now called Moral Injury, the destruction of your sense of what is right and wrong by seemingly endless combat, is an insidious issue. Those in the Medical world can probably provide more info, but I don't think Moral Injury is even recognized by DSM V, but it is, nonetheless, a destructive issue.

Also, on top of the PTSD/MI question, there are millions of us who are suffering chronic pain, systemic illness, etc. Military service, even in peacetime is incredibly hazardous. This is something that civilians such as Sen. Tom Coburn (R-MN) don't get. Veterans have much higher rates of physical and behavioral/mental health issues than the General Public, because we are exposed to so many more hazards of every kind...

The thoughtless cannot comprehend; the foolish cannot fathom this... I did not play in the sand box but did two tours on the Z in Korea 79/80 82/83. Sometimes I think it was worse psychologically, and my injuries are not visible. You just can not see a hurt back, TBI or PTSD, those with the hidden injuries suffer more because people doubt them.Response by SFC Boots Attaway made Feb 21 at 2015 1:31 AM2015-02-21T01:31:55-05:002015-02-21T01:31:55-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member489787

Interesting way to respond.

Hopefully it helps the younger generation understand.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 21 at 2015 1:45 PM2015-02-21T13:45:46-05:002015-02-21T13:45:46-05:002015-02-20T10:17:40-05:00
