Your resume is not crap, employers are being so specific that they are overlooking qualified candidates to find the one "perfect" candidate. Hang in there and keep looking! I'm not being insulting, but what skills do you have that an employer needs. This means you need to look at your resume and NCOERs and pull out your skill sets and experience that matters to an employer.

This will give an employer a view of your expertise. I quickly browsed through your profile and saw you were a squad leader, which means you were responsible for 8-9 people, which is "supervisory experience". I also saw that you were chemical CBRN which means you have a familiarity with chemicals. (I started as chemical enlisted myself).

"Work" is a very general term. Employers pick the person that is the "best fit", for the tasks they have, so when you see opportunities, remember that your one of many applicants and you need to fit your skills with what the employer wants.

One advantage you have over regular civilians is you have a track record of performance in your NCOER's, hopefully they weren't canned bullet points. I recommend to have NCOER's with all the sensitive information removed (like social security numbers, phone numbers, and email addresses blackened out) and when you look for jobs submit a packet of not only your resume but also your NCOER's and that will put you miles ahead of your civilian competition.

One thing that Veterans have as a challenge is finding a way to make their military skills match what a civilian employer wants. I saw you were looking at retraining. That is a good start, but find out what you want to be retrained towards and hit that industry. (whether Security or IT as examples). This part of it is also taking a look at yourself, your likes and dislikes, what you truly want to do, will shine on an interview because you will be enthusiastic and employers see that, because they know an enthusiastic person will work harder than a person looking for a "job".
