Looking back on your first enlistment would you say it was fast or slow?

My first enlistment was back in '93. But it did seem to fly by pretty quickly.

It went by pretty quick!! I stayed 22 years!! That went pretty quicker too!!

Er, UNREPing (underway replenishment) every two days because we shot our magazines empty. Dodging Styx missiles. Power drinking in Subic? Yup , more than time flew on my tin can.

Not just my first enlistment, the entire twenty years went by quickly. One day I was a know nothing boot camp and before I knew it I was a Navy Chief being piped ashore for the last time “Never to sail on Naval Ships again”.

It started out rather slow as I spent almost 2 years in schools. Once I got to my first ship the pace picked up quite a bit, and has been flying by ever since.

At first it seemed like forever the first year. But the next 3 at Lejeune back in 02-05 seemed like it was over in a blink of the eye.

I have to agree with SCPO Private RallyPoint Member. Spent almost two years in schools to start out. I actually arrived at my first duty station 3 days short of my two year anniversary. After that it started to fly and the pace just seems to get faster as the years go by.

Definitely went by really fast. The first year I was in training mostly and did a tour overseas in Okinawa (prior service Marine). By the time I got back to the states, I was already in my re-enlistment window.

I'd say fast. My 1st enlistment was packed with so much intensity and change in lifestyle. Not just learning complex various skills for working in the military, but also social and personal. Those 3 years at my 1st duty station flew by.
