NCOs are the "backbone" of the Army. (and the rest of the services). On the current ACU uniform as well as the Class B, you really have to be "right up on" someone in order to see the rank. The perspective I received (from another service officer) is that the Army is "reducing" the value of the rank by...

I agree with you. I would prefer rank on the collar. Even when deployed I rarely used the "mandarin" collar on my ACUs. If the collar cannot be used, then I would prefer the rank be placed on the sleeve, but this leaves an interesting gap for Warrant Officers and Officers alike. My final assessment would be to place the rank back on the collar. As if you are wearing the “mandarin” collar, you should be wearing body armor and your rank will be on it, or you will be wearing a combat shirt and then this issue is mute.Response by SFC Dr. Joseph Finck, BS, MA, DSS made Dec 31 at 2014 9:07 AM2014-12-31T09:07:01-05:002014-12-31T09:07:01-05:00SPC Steve Oxley8735250

My time was short comparred to some 66-68.
