Leadership putting more emphasis on Field rotations vs MI training, is it created less capable Soldiers?

I think it's important to put people where they best fit and leave them there. I've known far too many people who had to move or change jobs every few years to get promoted. There are many people who are superb at one thing. Leave them there, and both the military and the individual are better served. It's called stability. When or if they want to move or change, then let them.

This is a delicate balancing act. In my old unit, the opposite was hard to overcome- NCOs only wanted to send soldiers to schools and courses that developed them on the intel side of the Army. Very seldom were we allowed to go to soldier schools. Not too long ago, our division G2 SGM put out guidance saying the preferred ratio would be for every three schools a soldier (of all ranks) should go to is two for MOS proficiency and one for general soldiering skills (combatives, CLS, etc). I think that is a pretty fair ratio.
