Larry Lessig Believes Democracy Is Screwed. So He's Running For President To Save It. Is Lessig the One to save us from Hillary?

My question is rhetorical. I don't care how smart Larry Lessig is. He's an idiot to think he can be the POTUS, then quit if his reforms pass. But, maybe he's not. You never know what the voters are going to do.

WASHINGTON -- Larry Lessig, a well-known legal theorist and political activist, is taking the plunge into electoral politics, announcing on Tuesday that he will formally explore a run for the presidency in 2016 as a Democrat.

Lessig, a Harvard law professor, will be a distinctly unconventional White House aspirant. In an interview, he said he will run on a singular platform: the Citizen Equality Act, which includes campaign finance reform, an end to partisan gerrymandering, and a vast expansion of voting access that would make Election Day a national holiday. Should he win and lead the passage of that agenda, Lessig said he'll promptly quit, handing the office to his vice president, whoever that may be.

He won't. Like the many Flag Officers, there isn't support money or people wise to make a dent.

In all honesty, the man is wasting tons of donated dollars to run a campaign that is destined to fail on purpose. I don't see the logic behind it at all, other than skimming thousands in donations for personal monetary gain.

SGT Private RallyPoint Member - Sergeant; The man is living in fantasy land if he thinks that he can win an election based on returning "power to the people" and advocating "honest electoral rules".

On the other hand, promising to give people a day off with pay isn't going to hurt his image with the voters.

The fundamental problem with a democratic system is that the quality of the politicians that get elected and the policies they pass will be no better than what can be gotten over on the stupidest, least informed, most dependent 51% of the electorate. I don't support voting restrictions based on race, gender, sexuality, creed or anything like that but I do think that a requirement to vote should at least be employment, if not actually earning enough to pay Federal income taxes. Having a stake and making payments on government makes for more informed voters, at least in my opinion, while people who contribute nothing and live of government handouts will simply vote for the person who promises to steal the most from me to 'give' to them.
