Just How Far Will The Left Go In Trampling Our Freedoms? Lessons from the Wisconsin "John Doe" Raids

Behind the scenes of Governor Scott Walker's successful rise to from Milwaukee County Executive, the passage of Act 10 - the Budget Repair Bill that ended the rights of public sector unions to collective bargaining - and the ensuing protests and recall challenges; something far more sinister was at work: A rogue Democrat county prosecutor, using the authority of his office to conduct relatively anonymous "John Doe" legal investigations against anything Walker and anything Conservative. In his overzealous pursuit that in the end has caused far more damage to Dairy State democracy than can rightfully be quantified; families now living in fear of law enforcement because of a campaign donation they made? Really? In Wisconsin?
I suspect there will be some on the left who will attempt to play moral moral relativist here with this and want to turn this around; but I don't think so. This is the Progressivist Left attempting to squelch free speech in Wisconsin; a state I love dearly, the state my Son was born in. Furthermore, look at the trend on every major college campus today; it is not the Right attempting stifle free speech and thought on campus; trying to shutdown virtually every and any speaker or lecturer who happens to offend your sensitivities.

The sad thing is, this is the kind of thing that leads to Police Officers being shot by law abiding citizens. In the best case scenario, the officer is not killed. In the worst case scenario, the officer is killed, and the citizen is charged with murder. The culture needs to be changed. This United States of America is not a Police State. The person or people authorizing this behavior need to be held accountable for their actions.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
I am pretty sure that somewhere in the oath that these people took when assuming their office there was a provision pertaining to supporting the Constitution. I would say that this behavior makes them Oath Breakers. It may seem silly to use that term, but that is not something that should be taken lightly. They should be required to resign. They break the oath, they are not worthy of keeping their position.

Systemic Failure. This is not a Left/Right issue. This is an "Abuse of tools" issue.
The fact that "John Doe Investigations" exist makes my blood boil.
What can be abused by one side, can just as easily be abused by the other. The article just highlights a case where it happened to be abused by one side.
We can argue all day long that one side is more prone to abuse a specific tool than the other. However I'm sure counterexamples of other tools can be raised for every one presented. There are no angels in a war like this. There is no more high ground. Our Framers would have shook their head in disgust had we explained this "process" and I have little doubt that good old General Washington wouldn't have flogged or shot some of these offenders just for good measure.

Interesting read. I am originally from Wisconsin but haven't been there in 20 years. When I heard of the whole union battle, I was disheartened. I wonder if he plans on running for President?

Where are you from? I went to college at UW-L and Commissioned through there. The union battle was pivotal, but Scott ran on it. But I think it became one of those things nobody really thought he would follow through on, Assembly Republicans included. So when he moved on it, I think it moved faster than anyone other than he was prepared for.
