"Jim Webb is no longer running for president as a democrat. He may, however, run as an independent. On November 9th, I interviewed him. Near the end of the interview, in response to a question I hadn’t even planned on asking, he said The Most Presidential Thing Any Candidate Has Ever Said. I can’t even imagine the other candidates saying it. Hell, it was more presidential than anything an actual president has ever said.

The entire interview was interesting, and started really well. Webb asked what I did in the military, and we discovered we both taught pistol marksmanship in the Marine Corps. He talked about his love for the Colt 1911. I joked that I’m partial to pistols designed within the last century. He laughed and bragged about his beloved H&K P7, a gift from the German Army.

If Hillary ever touched a gun, she’d probably amputate her hand in shame. Give Bernie Sanders a gun and he’ll automatically assume the triumphant pose of a socialist propaganda poster. Offer Ben Carson a gun and he’ll call it a grain dispenser made by The Adversary. I’ll never know what Trump would do with a gun, because if I see him armed I’ll run for my life.

But Jim Webb? He’s trained with a pistol, used one in combat, and to this day loves his .45. That’s just cool.

As the interview progressed I learned a few things about Webb. He is in fact as serious as he comes across in public, although levity does lurk beneath the rough exterior. He has an experience-based, gut-level understanding of subjects that are theoretical to other candidates. He doesn’t back down from aggravating questions, even when he gets defensive and his voice goes all “get off my lawn”.

President Webb wouldn’t put politics over his troops. He’d give two orders:

“Shoot the motherfuckers. And take care of your people.”

That’s what every president should say. And it’s why I, and any American who understands the threat we face, should vote for Jim Webb.

Capt Walter Miller I'm not a Democrat, and I don't expect I ever will be. However, Jim Webb is a man I respect. And if we were to have a Democrat for president, I want it to be him.

Here is my prayer I say every day. "Dear Jesus, please have Jim Webb run for President, Amen". Short and sweet. In the last 20 years he will be the only person I will ever vote for that was not in the category of picking who sucks less.

Besides graduating from Annapolis at the top of his class, being first in his class of 243 lieutenants at the Basic School, being a platoon and company commander and winning a Navy Cross, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts in Viet Nam, he was a committee general counsel, congressional staffer, official in the Defense Department, SecNav and senator, he is a NY Times best selling author, has the screenwriting credit for "Rules of Engagement" and he even has a bleeping EMMY.

But the thing that is so awesome is that he resigned as SeNav in protest of what the SecDef asked him to do. It blew me away at the time. Who does that? The story is that the SecDef Carlucci asked him to misrepresent facts to the Congress. He laid it on Carlucci at the time. Awesome. Specifically he was asked to misrepresent the usefulness of a new class of Navy warships.

Senator Webb is exactly what we need.

Seen on FB: "47% of all registered voters are independents. The front runners in both parties have negative approval ratings around 60%. This means that the two front runners combined are only supported by 22.8% of the population. An independent race is statistically capable of being won."

The Beirut Bombing of the Marine BLT in Lebanon was the low point IMHO of Ronald Reagan's Presidency, maybe matched only by his decision not to counter punch those Hezbollah Motherfuckers and their Syrian and Iranian masters in the Bekkah Valley with punishing airstrikes. Every bullet and bomb that we supply to Israel, that ends up downrange towards a Hezbollah fighter, I remember the Marines who died there in 1983. For Ronny to put our troops there without robust rules of engagement for them to defend themselves was criminal negligence by the CinC. If the same thing had happened under a Democrat like say Bill Clinton, there would have been calls for his impeachment. Ronald Reagen heard calls for Impeachment about the Iran Contra Scandal, but his real failure was putting those ROEs on the Marines were operating under in Lebanon(example no loaded magazines in your rifles - WTF?) That and the failure to punish the people directly responsible for their deaths with quick and decisive airstrikes.

I was very disheartened to see the way he was treated in the last (only) Democratic Debate that he was in, and I am glad he did not stay and dignify that stage with his presence. I immediately thought, when I heard he had left the race, that the best trained, best tested, best person who's life's experiences had prepared him to be the CinC, had just left the field.

I will not vote for Hillary even if it is between her and the Donald. I will write in "James H. Webb Jr." on my ballot. His book, Fields of Fire, heavily influenced my decision to try out for the Marine Corps. The man is a Moral Giant compared to most of the people who are running in either party. "So Senator (a character in Fields of Fire), you finally found your balls?" U-rah! and Semper Fidelis, Jim Webb.

PS. There is a really cool photo of Jim Webb in my TBS cruise Book from the Marine Corps Ball in DC in Nov. 1990 (Hotel Co, BOC 8-90). He is in Black Tie wearing his Marine Corps Medals, including his Navy Cross, in a photo with our CO of TBS Col. Edwin C. Kelly Jr., (and a couple of my company's 2nd Lts) also a Navy Cross recipient, and an infantry officer, like Jim Webb from Vietnam. The night ended badly for me and my date, as she left with someone else, and I ended up leaving more sober than I should have. But the real cool thing was that after I left the Ball by myself in my Dress Blues, I drove over to the Jefferson Memorial around 12-1 AM and walked around the monument to literally cool off and remember how lucky I was to be a young, healthy and handsome,(too cocky looking back at it know) Marine Officer and at the beginning of the great adventure we call life. There would always be more ladies too date, of that I was sure, and in my arrogance that night, I really did think it was her loss, as I consoled myself walking around the Jefferson Memorial, before making that drive down I-95 back to O"Bannon Hall, in my new shiny red sports car.
