I went to the main site every day to eat and sleep but didn’t really get to know people. I cannot be credited or any heroic deed. I have avoided death and have guilt because of it. I was not in combat because I found a way to avoid it. I left the Army, “Ready Freddy’s“, that were among the first to police Vietnam. I found a way to transfer to the Air Force for another four years and when I checked on what happened to the, Ready Freddie’s, I was told that none of them came back. I have to shamefully admit that I am not willing to give up my life for others. Nevertheless I found out different when my daughter was born.
It was a relief to know that I could give up my life for somebody else.
While in isolation in Alaska, I did get a relief by teaching a Sunday school class of native Alaskan children, every Sunday. They were the only ones that had they close relationship with me and I loved them very much. After a 9.2 Richter scale earthquake in 1964 and a brain injury, I was honorably discharge & got a one month early out to go to college. I did not admit that those children I love so much, were dead until 2004. Up until then I had excruciating and frequent migraines every time I try to relax. As long as I was under pressure, I was OK but at least three times a week I was without stress and became extremely sick. Now, I am too wordy. People don’t want to listen to me because it would take too long. Please forgive me for being so wordy.
I really don’t know why I put this comment here. Please forgive me. Thank you.
Respectfully yours ,
TOM R ILSLEY JR. “I 1800” <-nickname
[login to see] Response by A1C Thomas Robert Ilsley Jr made May 15 at 2019 9:03 PM2019-05-15T21:03:50-04:002019-05-15T21:03:50-04:00Thomas Kuna4639381

Great trailer! working out of PTSD. A lot of civilians get milder cases of PTSD -- maybe 30-50% of US civilians have suffered some sort of trauma that it sometimes takes a life-time to work through, Sports, work, working the land, and family life -- or at least small-group life in an intentional community can help heal the pain. Our Sts Isidore & Wife Maria Farmers' Cottage -- which is so far the only intentional household we have in our NFP: St Marcellus House(s) of Hospitality for Homeless and/or PTSD-suffering Veterans and or their immediate Families and/or Others in Like Straits invites Rally Point readers to read our news letter about what we try to do. It's one of the 7-8 essays at blue-lined hyperlinks just below the Nav-Bar at our url: http://www.w-e-r-co.com The Newsletter is at the center right there. Itr's called: BUGLER: Veterans Green(e) Energy Co-Ops Project. It's about 38 pp long. The one project we especially are working on is the St. Marcellus Group, at the hyperlink near the center of the section of hyper-links. Our biggest need now is to scrape together funding for the up-front cash to lease a 2019 Toyota Prius to be able to commute to factory work 40 miles away near Granite City Illinois. We are in a small rural village and jobs are as hard to find as "pulling steel teeth with a pair of plastic tweezers" (as a 44 yr old John H W -- a great fan of WWE and a Vet's son and one of our low-income residents -- and a good member of our intentional community in the CW (Catholic Worker-inspired) tradition -- likes to say! So if anyone can spare a few dollars to donate toward such a Kane Zip-Code Area Transit/Sports/Community Library Co-Ops (please click the Donate button at the upper right hand of our URL. One can also donate to us via Network For Good or Amazon Smile. Or Phone us at [login to see] . We can make room for one single male Veteran here in about a half days work of carpentry to build in a bed into a closet. The other bed is in the Kitchen. John's double bed is inthe Living room and Don (our Comptroller and kind of major domo handyman has a bedrom to himself). In theory, we could take in a Vet and lawful spouse to sleep where John sleeps now, John could sleep in the place I sleep at now -- in the kitchen; and I'd sleep in the bed-to-be-built in the closet of my office. My name is Tom Kuna-Jacob, I'm 71 and a retired teacher with a heart for Vets. I've had to work through some PTSD from childhood traumes sufferred at age 5 from playmates in war-games; and aggravated by traumaic footage of wars and holocaust that were first broadcast to the TV public on Walter Cronkites excellent Series "The XXth Century" in i953 at my age of 5. So personal trauma and the crises of world history intersected in my soul and have remained ever since -- making me more of an active-citizen-participant in public affairs than the average person.
