SFC Private RallyPoint Member 139678

It's Saturday morning (1050); 1SG informed you that your PLT has guard duty from 1800-0600. Try to get some volunteers for shifts, maybe try to accommodate some if they have plans but this is the Army and sometimes we just have to do what we don't want to do. That way I can say, "here's what we have to do, but here's the good deal too." I avoid mentioning that it sucks or that we all have to "suck it up" or any blame about short notice, etc.

Then I try to figure out what the disconnect was that caused me not to find out in a timely fashion. Did I miss an email? Did my commander? You need to figure it out to prevent it from happening again, not to play the blame game. Honestly, if I figure out that someone else screwed up and that person will be in the mix in the future too, I make contact and put them on the spot. I'm not mean, but I am direct. I do it because I don't want people thinking I'm the go to person to cover other people's last minute screw ups (unless it is my rater/senior rater...then I want them to think I am exactly the person to call to cover someone else's last minute screw ups).

On a different note: I completely vouch for SFC Regis. Great guy! I appreciate all the things he did to cover up my LT screw ups. That's pretty messed up he can't forecast a weekend duty, we do it for CQ and Staff Duty.
