The barracks, "the haunted mansion", had at least two deaths in it and people hear noises there throughout the night. In addition there is a little girl who runs around the drill hall. The battalion XO who officiated the change of command ceremony used to be a company commander there as well. He said that he saw a UFO over head once as well. The area is the "hot spot" for UFOs in New York.

Is your building haunted? Have you ever been to a haunted house on a post or anywhere? I didn't believe it until I had my little experience there. Not going to give up though! (no, not a 'ghost hunter' or anything, ,just curious!).

The most 'haunted' place I've ever been stationed was Washington D.C. (Ft. Myer, VA specifically). Seems like every historic building in the area (including on Ft. Myer, Belvoir, McNair, etc..) has stories of hauntings; and most of them are very interesting stories! We have no alarm clocks in the office and there's no explanation for it. That's not my normal time to wake up and I'm not the only one who experiences it! I was stationed at CG Station Harbor Beach, MI and it was haunted. I personally saw doors open and slam shut, door knobs rattle and jerk out of my hand, and heard strange unexplained noises in the station. Several other people saw the ghost (called Mikey) walking about 3 feet off the ground and out across the front lawn until he disappeared over Lake Huron. Mikey was a CG petty officer who was killed in a vehicle rollover accident in back of the station in 1989. I never saw the ghost, but the strange way that the doors in the building suddenly flew open or slammed shut was disturbing. The building was L shaped with no rear exit door (only ground level windows for emegency egress.) We figured that the air being drawn through the building could be responsible for the doors slamming shut, but not for them opening up (they were all heavy fire doors) or for turning the door knobs. He just disappeared. My wife says lets go. But I never felt threatened at all. First and only time with this? Legend had it that a ghost of a WWII wandered the base. I didn't believe it at first, until one night while working on the flight line, I was driving around the end of the runway when another vehicle turned on behind me. I didn't think much on it, because mine was obviously not the only vehicle out there. It was only after being tailgated around the loop, as we called it, and passing the approach lights that the headlights disappeared. I looked behind and saw a truck at the beginning of the loop road, and assumed that was the only one behind me. Later I met up with a good friend, and told him what happened. He said that third truck was his supervisor, and said he saw 2 trucks at the approach lights, and only one after passing the lights. It was then I knew that I had been teased by the infamous Lakenheath Charlie!
