WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Internal Revenue Service revoked the nonprofit status of the veterans benefit organization that hosted and sold tickets to a foreign policy speech by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump aboard a retired U.S. battleship, The Associated Press has learned. The group's endorsement of Trump at the event also could raise legal problems under campaign finance laws.

It sounds like the event was a catalyst, not the reason.

From the article "The IRS issued its decision Aug. 10, citing the group's failure to file any tax returns for three consecutive years, according to IRS records reviewed by the AP."

SSgt Alex Robinson it seems more like this is at best a poorly run organization, at worst a criminal organization. It seems like they want the benefits of being a non profit without taking the responsibility that goes with that status seriously. They refused to provide information that is required by law to be publicly available. That is a shady move. The fact that they are raising campaign finance and IRS questions at the same time leads me to believe that it is more about this individual organization than about silencing veterans.

I don't think so. It seems to me that the "non-profit" in question was/is conducting business in such a manner as to be anything BUT non-profit.

These guys were obviously scamming long before Trump came along. Guess they're regretting making the news.
