I am a verified retiree, so I assume that the name is blocked due to his privacy settings.

But then, when that member upvoted a post I made, I received in email that had as the subject line "first name" upvoted your comment". Then, when I was mentioned in a post by that same member, I got an email that said "first name last name" mentioned you in a post. So it appears that despite what settings are set in the privacy settings, when the notification emails go out, names that should be hidden are in fact disclosed.

Is this a security glitch, or is it a separate setting somewhere about what is shown in an email versus what is shown on the site?Is this a RallyPoint security glitch or just a privacy settings issue?2015-12-27T16:39:27-05:00LTC Private RallyPoint Member1199217

I was having a back and forth discussion with a member on a question. As SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" stated, it does have something to do with my privacy settings, which is set so only my contacts can see my full name or certain other information. I am a verified member just so you know, and I am enjoying our dialogue in the other forum. BTW, I have sent you a friend request if you so choose to accept, which you'll then be able to see me in full.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 27 at 2015 4:54 PM2015-12-27T16:54:29-05:002015-12-27T16:54:29-05:00PO2 Mark Saffell1200067

There is a draw back to hiding your ID. If you have friends out there that are searching for other friends they wont find you. For instance I continue to search out members that served on board the USS Enterprise from 1977 to 1980, the same time as I did in hopes of making contact with guys I served with and IF you hide your profile/Identity they cant located you.Response by PO2 Mark Saffell made Dec 28 at 2015 8:12 AM2015-12-28T08:12:13-05:002015-12-28T08:12:13-05:002015-12-27T16:39:27-05:00
