"A spokesman for the town sent Yahoo Real Estate digital copies of several notices stating that the property was unsafe and would be the subject of a hearing on Feb. 24, 2015, to determine whether it was dangerous and authorize its demolition."<br /><br />There ya go. If so, and the city filed the proper paperwork, it probably seemed that the house was abandoned, and what was done was most likely within the law. Obviously no one knew how to get in touch with the gentleman.
