No more that 800 mg every 6-8 hours with a daily max of 3200 mg. Ibuprofen can be hard on the kidneys and the liver. But don't worry, the VA has 13 organ transplant centers across the country, nine of which do Liver and/or Kidney transplants. Oh, BTW. Tiger Balm and Bio-Freeze work great, too.Response by SGT Tim Soyars made Aug 29 at 2016 10:49 PM2016-08-29T22:49:49-04:002016-08-29T22:49:49-04:00SPC(P) Private RallyPoint Member1847834<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've always used the muscle rollers.... Ice is horrible because it decreases circulation and causes adhesions between tissue that can be painful and limit range of motion for years. There is a great book called "Tooth from the Tiger's Mouth" that has a lot of self care and formulas that deal with injuries that you could commission a Chinese medicine practitioner to have made for you, or you can buy it from Chinese herb shops. One is called herbal ice and it cools and promotes circulation at the same time. There isn't much to it. The book is also on Kindle. Check out springwind herbs. They have some great stuff. There is a general liniment that is pretty good. Getting the heart rate above normal resting rate helps pumps fresh blood and nutrients in to the injured area to help heal it. The next day I tore off about one inch of the cup, applied the ice directly to the skin, and massaged my muscle strained leg with the ice cup until the ice melted. Two weeks of rest and this icing technique really helped the healing process.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 30 at 2016 7:43 AM2016-08-30T07:43:42-04:002016-08-30T07:43:42-04:00PO1 Private RallyPoint Member1848283<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Apple Cider Vinegar bath...helps pull out lactic acid out of the muscle. Don't baby it like it's broken (unless it is) or push through the pain. You know your body; what pain limits you have and if you need to RICE it.
