Is there anyone suffering from severe PTSD that would like to talk with me? The VA psychiatrist said it helps. I'm hesitant, but I'll try it.

@SPC Jeff Payne - I feel you will get a fair amount of feedback from others on this site. I have noted a number of folks who mention they have symptoms, some worse than others, and hope they contact you. Good idea to reach out . Best wishes and try to stay engaged with RP on the various issues of general interest you find on here, politics, current events, history, even a thread or two on music, specific HR issues, leadership, etc - just check out the 'Popular Topics' listed to the right of this page. it is really an excellent forum to get insights and information.

Mind if I ask where you are? It might help you and others in your area to meet. Say, over a beer or something? I know here in Colorado there are groups who get together to talk.
I'm a vet but not with combat PTSD. Maybe I can help find locals for you through my Blue Star Mothers connections.

I dealt with that issue on so many levels, however it is not that simplistic, for only a couple of dollars, I have devoted a book to resolve, or at least deal with the problem, please check it out, for a couple of dollars you can get the e-book from Amazon or Barns & Noble web site, just type in the title, good luck & GOD BLESS.

How long have you been in? What is your MOS? Where were you deployed? These may seem like trivial questions, but there are a lot of veterans on RP with combat experience who suffer from PTSD. If you're a cook or personnel specialist, asking an Infantryman or Engineer for advice on being a big boy might not be the best avenue.

Hey Jeff, have you checked with your local VA, they may have a weekly meeting where other Vets like myself meet and discuss what's going on. Don't worry these Vets are the same people who understand and shares their stories during our time in Iraq/Afghanistan. My particular group are from the OIF/OEF campaign. We discuss things like coping skills and how we are not just civilians, we are "civilians plus" because of our military background. Speaking from myself, I would say never be ashamed to seek help, I have found talking about my issues with other Vets has benefited me and still today I attend these meetings. Brother, there are many of us out here suffering same as you. Get involved with one of the many of veteran organizations in your community. Best therapy I have is to hang out and run with veterans like myself. Understand, you are not alone in this. Hope and pray God blesses you greatly.
