I’m trying to buy a house with my husband but don’t want to pay a mortgage and rent.

Nope. You signed a lease for xx amount of months. It's a contract that YOU agreed to. With that being said, there may be a termination clause in the contract. You might be required to pay x amount of dollars to terminate your contract.

Unfortunately not. When you sign a lease, everyone is fully aware of the contractual obligation, hence the reason why it’s never a good thing to rush into any lease.
Talk with housing, there will be a fee to terminate early, usually it’s equivalent to 1-2 months of rent and you won’t receive your security deposit (if you had one).
Make sure before you purchase your home that it’s the home you want to be in before you sign any paperwork. It’s easy to buy a home but you won’t be able to just walk away once you receive assignment instructions to some place else... Good Luck to you....
