A lot of money was spent on your training, hang in there it may grow on you. You put in a 4187 and check the re-class box. On a side note, make sure you you use proper grammar when doing any kind of form like that. If a commander looks at a 4187 and sees the same type of grammar and spelling used in your header, he or she is likely going to trash it.Response by SGT Chris Stephens made Dec 30 at 2018 4:25 PM2018-12-30T16:25:26-05:002018-12-30T16:25:26-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4247632

Depends on the job. Chances are you'll have to add time to your contract though. You'll need at least one year time on station before you can reclass. Plus, once you're accepted for the Reclass you'll need to have enough time left for the new MOS and the subsequent PCS that will follow. That means at least 2 years+ from after the graduation of your new MOS.
You'll have to talk with your Career CounselorResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 30 at 2018 11:01 PM2018-12-30T23:01:16-05:002018-12-30T23:01:16-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4247868

Like others have said, when you are up for re enlistment is the time to do it. By all means, change your mos and do not judge the army by 1 term or mos. Many people make that mistake when there are some pretty awesome jobs and assignments out there. Good luck!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 31 at 2018 2:36 AM2018-12-31T02:36:35-05:002018-12-31T02:36:35-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member4251639

Here's what AR 614–200, Section 3–17 states:

"Soldiers may request voluntary reclassification; however, they must meet the following criteria to be reclassified:
(a) The Soldier's current PMOS must be listed as overstrength (N/Y) and the requested MOS must be listed as short (Y/N) on the current Reenlistment and/or Reclassification IN/OUT call message published by the HRC.
(b) Soldier must meet the required criteria of DA Pam 611–21 for new MOS.
(c) Soldier cannot be on AI. (Soldier is considered on AI when assignment has been processed through EDAS, not date of notification.)
(d) Soldier must have completed 12 months at their current duty station.
(e) Soldier may not be serving on initial enlistment under the ACASP (see AR 601–210).
(f) Soldier must agree, in writing, to recoupment of any unearned portion of the MOS specific enlistment and/or reenlistment bonus received for the current period of service (see AR 601–280).
(g) Soldier must be within 12 months of the DEROS.
(h) Soldier may not be within 24 months of ETS.
(i) Soldier must have fulfilled all SRRs for promotion and assignments.
(j) When stabilized because of reenlistment, Soldier must waive their reenlistment option."

Outside of voluntary reclassification you can choose to reclass for your reenlistment with Option 1. Your reenlistment window opens up 15 months before your ETS date and this of course comes with... reenlisting... and staying in the Army. So if you're thinking about getting out, obviously this is not for you. Though I agree with SSG Radici. Try not to let this one bad experience possibly ruin an entire career you might've enjoyed. Tons of people don't choose the right MOS the first time around.

Talk to your company's Retention NCO or Career Counselor for more information on the subject. You might not fit the requirements to change your MOS at this moment in time, but if you really hate your job currently there's no reason to not do something about it. Make a plan and try and make the best of things until then.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 1 at 2019 1:44 PM2019-01-01T13:44:26-05:002019-01-01T13:44:26-05:002018-12-30T14:09:52-05:00
