Is there any reason that I would not be able to bring my 3D Printer with me while living in the Barracks?

So, Im planning to enlist as soon as I graduate from High school, and I was wondering if there is any reason that I wouldn't be allowed to have my 3D Printer with me, or any of my Arduino/Prototyping equipment for that matter, while living in the barracks at my duty station.

There might, because 3D printers put off fumes. But, you really won't know the building codes of your particular barracks until you get there, wherever "there" might be. You could be in a barracks room in Germany or Korea; there are likely different codes and policies there then here in the states.

But if you're also asking "Am I allowed to own and use my 3D printer?" then yes, there shouldn't be an issue.

I don't know if your commander would have a problem with it, or even notice it.

But I would strongly recommend that you get to your unit first, and really get to know what kind of people your roommates and hallmates are before you bring anything expensive or easily breakable into your barracks room.

Jackson Syring As other have mentioned, you will not know until you get to your unit. Even if it was allowed, I would not have expensive equipment in the barracks that would be attractive targets for thieves.

It is all based on the barracks and whether you have a roommate. Also, barracks rooms are not very large at all. You generally have a bed,?a sitting chair and an end table with a bathroom, closet and some floor space. It sounds like this is a fairly large setup when all is in use. I would recommend you contact the Garrison single Soldier housing and ask before you ship anything.

Right now, I'd say you need to focus on the steak and not the peas. You've not enlisted yet, nor made it thru Basic and AIT. Get over those hurdles first.

When I went to Navy boot camp, we mailed home everything except one sock. We put our wallet, watch and spare change in and locked it up until we graduated.
