Is there an Army regulation stating that you can alter the tempo/cadence of an excercise? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-an-army-regulation-stating-that-you-can-alter-the-tempo-cadence-of-an-excercise

for example, we were told to do push ups as corrective action but cannot exceed 5 repetitions due to FM 7-22 5-15. So what happened was, we did 5 push ups in about 5 minutes due to being told to do them in cadence but at a very slow cadence. in BLC we were told that this can not be done but I cant find it in black in white so I dont want to bring up a situation without the facts. It was not corrective training. The company commander of the 519th Maint Co at fort ord was Infantry. He needed a command. This was a Ordnance company. DS/GS. Back up to the Division. The CG was MG Phillip Feir. Previous commandant of cadets at west point. He got caught up in the cheating scandal that rocked west point. They basically fired Feir. Put him out to pasture. So we start doing PT again. No more of that grenade throw. Pull ups were good. But how do you that in a hotel room? Just like Charlie is nothing like the smell of napalm in the morning. Charlie cannot surf. Greg the Puke as Fuji used to call him was a CW4 service and evac. Frank Baker. Disabled engineer warrant CW3. Warrant officers especially non aviators do not do PT. Greg told me to give PT. I pulled him back of the formation and said you have 4 2LT's from west point. 3 Rotc 2LT's who need the training. He said this is a Division run the General is up in his office with a scope. I said OK but you will never ask me again. So I line up the company. 100 strong. After the daily dozen. I like that like the dirty dozen with Lee Marvin. I yell out today we have a slow group and a fast group. This is a two mile run. Everyone has their orange t shirt on. With the bullet for Ordnance. The battalion commander was LTC Dennis Benchoff. Chemical ordnance Corp. So 30 soldiers go to my group. I ask this LT can you take the slow group. Greg was already gone in his M151. After clipping at a 6 min mile after one mile I yell out this is the long group too. By the time we get in front of division HQ there are 5 left. 500 years from home I hit it. the puke did not make Major. There is no room for altered tempo/cadence of an exercise during corrective action in This Man’s, (Woman’s/Transgender’s/LGBT’s/Thing’s/It’s) Army! I wouldn’t stand for it. If you let this slide, the next thing you’ll know, they’ll be trying to deploy you or something. It’s a lot harder to get in touch with HR from ‘stan. They don’t like going over there. Or just have a cordial conversation with the NCO. When I was a PVT/SPC, I liked to start those conversations with either, “I think.....” or “It’s my opinion that we should.....” (I did a lot of push ups back then) 2LT Ronald Reimer Sat, 24 Aug 2019 02:12:05 -0400 2019-08-24T02:12:05-04:00 Response by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 24 at 2019 9:06 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-there-an-army-regulation-stating-that-you-can-alter-the-tempo-cadence-of-an-excercise?n=4950700&urlhash=4950700

Reg answers aside... As a private in the 82nd i was given the order on Monday to memorize and then sign on Friday the All American "airborne" song. I blew it off.. Come Friday when i was told to sing it, and obviously did not know it. I was taken outside and smoked in the rain while a SPC played the song for me to memorize super quick to then sign it.

I look back to this very often, i did not then, nor will i ever cry about that. "Smoking/corrective action" i believe plays a very important role for all Soldiers.

Now when Soldiers do not "want" to be "smoked" i have to resort to having a paper trail which i don't like because some people just need a little bit of a wake up call.

Anyways, ending statement, do some push ups, its not going to kill you, it will actually help you, mentally (why am i being smoked) and physically (improvements.) If they can't show you that, then it's not real. The burden of proof is always on the person making the declaration.

That aside, as a Private in the 75th we had to do hand stand pushups on the wall for half an hour at at time when we messed up. I don't think five minutes is a big deal.
