Is there a way to investigate claims of combat experiences?

I've recently met a soldier who recently left the army who has told several tales that set off some serious alarm bells. (Claiming to have taken 3 rounds from a dragonuv to the chest while carrying an afghan child) is there a way to find an account to see if this actually happened. I'd hate to call someone out but this seems like an impossibility

Sounds like that should be documented in some type of award, certificate of achievement, or letter of reprimand. (Depending on the unit)

There are always going top be exaggerations and lies out there.
You can always submit a FOIA report from the units this individual claims to have served with and DA will release some information on the individuals service record as well under FOIA.

Is the juice worth the squeeze?

I had a buddy that took an AK round to the plate. He was in the hospital for 2 days and was on meds and bruised ribs for about 3 to 4 weeks and still 9 mths later a little sore. I call BS!

My general rule on it is those who talk about stuff like that are 99.9% full of feces. Also, I am pretty sure that the plates are rated for 1 maybe 2 hits so 3 would basically penetrate ripping through his torso. It has always amazed me why people can't simply be proud of what they did to. I drove fuel trucks, see isn't that simple lol.

Taking rounds to the chest usually end up with a Purp.
That should show up on the ol' DD214 as should deployments.
Don't suppose he had one of those?
