Is there a regulation regarding the amount of Class 9 parts that should be on hand for unit-level maintenance?

My unit recently switched to M50 series masks. But I don't have any replacement parts. (short of cannibalizing unassigned masks). I ordered Class IX for about 25% of my total masks, and G4 denied the order due to the typical "funding" reason. I was also told that they would only replace expendables as needed for dead-lined.

Is there doctrine that supports having some % of replacement parts?

It should be listed in the TM and SAMS-E how many of each item, class 9 or not, you must have for the mask to be FMC. Maybe the quantity for some of those parts are at least 2.

I normally went through the SAMS-E clerk and had no issues.

Past the SAMS-E shop, the TM, the CBRN FM's, and a possible CBRN defense school house on base, I got nothing.

I used to have the same issues when I was an armored. I would just go to your local -30 level maintenance guys and gals and out in a request for a handful of replacement parts. In my experience they were more than willing to throw me a small tacklebox full of misc parts so that I wouldn't have to bug them as often.

I am a bit out of date with military regs, but I know there is a financial management rule called Bona Fide Need that prohibits stockpiling of parts. Essentially, you are limited to the parts you need for that fiscal year unless an exemption such as lead time applies. When I was an armorer, I ran into this regularly. What I did was when I ordered parts I would pad the request a bit. Say I needed 3 firing pins, I would order 5. I wouldn't take it to the extreme, but having enough to do common repairs on say 5-10 widgets shouldn't be a problem.
