The size of the Army depends on how many Soldiers are in. The force grows and contracts due to wars, budgets, etc. Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 24 at 2019 8:55 AM 2019-09-24T08:55:43-04:00 2019-09-24T08:55:43-04:00 SFC Ralph E Kelley 5055365

Even if there isn't a pressing need in the present, there will always be a need to have the 'ROCk' (Reserve Officer Corps now Officer Reserve Corps)
Here's a link:
https://www.encyclopedia.com/history/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/officers-reserve-corps

Officers' Reserve Corps | Encyclopedia.com

OFFICERS' RESERVE CORPSOFFICERS' RESERVE CORPS. Across the board, officers probably perform better as a whole than the Enlisted Corps does on PT tests - you rarely see an officer fail a PT test.
The military already drew down after the Iraq war and will always continue to fluctuate a bit depending on who is in office. The size of our military is based on our strategy, which is currently to have a large enough army to fight a two front war. For us, that's about a half million active duty army. Don't expect any major changes to that number in the next decade or so unless there's is a massive new threat Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 24 at 2019 11:12 AM 2019-09-24T11:12:03-04:00 2019-09-24T11:12:03-04:00 CW4 Craig Urban 5066082

Pilots Response by CW4 Craig Urban made Sep 27 at 2019 11:10 AM 2019-09-27T11:10:10-04:00 2019-09-27T11:10:10-04:00 2019-09-24T03:49:06-04:00
