These seem to be steps in the right direction. The new Director's improvements are veteran driven changes. GEN Shinseki attempted to move the VA in new direction. As a responsible director he assumed responsibility for the failures which took place under his leadership in the South West.<br />Changing the culture takes lots of effort and requires significant internal support and buy in as well as support from Congressional oversight committees. I certainly hope Robert A. McDonald will succeed to change the culture and improve the administration of the VA, the benefits evaluation process and the treatment and care of veterans. There is not enough integrity in the VA to be self policing in some VA hospitals or centralized operations. Not only is he a proven businessman but he's a veteran himself so he has a vested interest in reforming the department.
