Some people look for a racist or a boogeyman behind every rock, in every crevice, on every knoll and in every clump of bushes. It is what they do because they are unable to add any real value to the discourse. It is the sad state of race relations in this country when a term like "hard working" can be considered racist as if anyone of any race could not be hard working. This is a "consider the source" moment.

Unless this is some hustle to generate attention for this person or the network she’s on, it’s simply an emotional argument that comes from being so deeply immersed in the “victimization” mindset; not a rational argument. While I think we all have a desire to “fight the good fight”, whatever that may be, it seems that some people have a deeper psychological NEED to fight what they have been taught is the righteous fight. If there is no tangible boogie-man antagonist, they'll create one, even out of the most tenuous of "evidence". Maybe it’s a self-worth thing, I don’t know.

I don't want to be a part of a society where people consider the term "hard worker" racist. Hard work is not synonymous with slavery, nor should it be something anyone should not be proud to be called. I'm a hard worker. Ask anyone who knows me.

Let me just say that hard work doesn't always mean someone is successful. My father used to say that he wanted me to work smart, not hard. I think what he meant was that he wanted me to get to a point in my career where using my brain was more prevalent than using my back. It takes hard work to get to that point, though. It's not just handed to you.

This is the problem with talking heads. They have to talk and stir the pot. I get what she's saying (that we like to imply that people not doing climbing the ladder of economic success are not hard workers), but it was an utterly irrelevant point to make. Sometimes a phrase is being applied appropriately and sometimes it isn't. Let's save the call-outs on semantics for when someone at least sort of gets close to problematic usage, shall we?

Anytime I see something posted from MSNBC and specifically involving this particular "host" someone is always being cautioned about using a term she/they (MSNBC) deem racist and almost always I think to myself "WTF?!!". MSNBC has an especially deep-seated hatred towards anything on/from the Republican Party and it seems, to me anyways, that the hosts of a lot of their "shows" play the race-card when something offends them. I don't know anymore what constitutes being racist or making a racist remark as it appears that anytime a Republican makes a statement that one individual on a "news outlet" that is almost always in the toilet as far as rankings and reliability goes gets offended the rules of racism are changed.
