Is the Pentagon all aboard the fear porn band wagon?

While the US continues to paint Russia as a danger in order to promote its own global aims, the Kremlin has repeatedly pointed out the absurdity in such allegations.

“I find it funny to hear how Russia is being accused of military aggressiveness,” Russian Chief of Staff Sergei Ivanov told the Financial Times when news of the US National Military Strategy first broke. “There is an expression, ‘this is nothing but raving nonsense.'”

“It is a psychological disorder to claim Russia will invade the Baltic States,” he added.

You just can’t make this stuff up. Just as we are getting over our American NATO General Breedlove’s too many claims of Russia being prepared to sweep through Ukraine all the way into Moldova, we now have a new fear porn general.

The US top Army commander General Ben Hodges has joined in the competition as to who can blow up the Russian bear balloon the biggest. Frightening the public to get increases in military spending is as American as mom and apple pie. But in peacetime, against potential adversaries with limited force projection, we find the military brass will just make threats up.

The Bush (43) coup regime actually formalized this campaign by setting up specific units to come up with good material to bamboozle the public into supporting whatever the White House wanted. And it did not care whether it was true or not, only that it worked.

We have the General’s claim that Russia is using proxies to undermine regional security, when it is us and NATO who have been doing that. We have lots of proof. The General does not provide us any proof, which is the standard tactic — “make the charge, and move on to the next point.”

The Pentagon may or may not be all aboard the fear porn band wagon. I expect upper echelon could be but I doubt the lower echelon employees and service members are :-)

In my humble opinion any representation emanating from Washington, DC regarding the military is entirely suspect.

I have so often wondered if our military threat was not manufactured so that the lucrative business of supplying the military with arms, systems, and a myriad of simple items like clothing, food, office equipment, etc. could be manufactured, sent to a foreign country and consumed through warfare. Of course, anything lost or consumed would require replacement.
Those corporations who produce these items would be staunch financial supporters of politicians of every stripe to insure decesion makers were on the war team.

Burroughs - Mikel; Although the thought that US economy would suffer an EXTREMELY unsettling 'dip' if the amount of military spending was reduced to the point that the US was only spending as much as China and Russia combined did enter my mind, I also wondered if the decrease in taxation that that would permit (about 10% across the board) might not counter that effect.

Both the US and Russia claim that the other guy is plotting against them and isn't above toppling foreign governments to advance their own interests. The unfortunate fact about those claims is that the Russians can point to incidents as recently as 2001 while the US has to rely on what happened right after WWII.

Veterans today is a fake website. The purpose is to make money. They create fake headlines that people want to believe. This prompts readers to share the headlines on Facebook. Often they get tens of thousands of Facebook shares for their fake articles. This generates ad revenue for the site. Most of their stuff comes from RT, true garbage.

Isn't this the same type of propaganda that we have always had with the Russians? Their the bad guys from our side and we are the bad guys from their side. I just think the days of the Cold War whispers, pointing fingers, accusation, and posturing has never stopped. Didn't Putin recently say with all of the stuff that the United States is doing, have done should have sanctions put against us? Unfortunately, IMO where once upon dream, when the United States said something, the world listened, but now, they don't listen so much anymore. I think the US needs to take a step back, re-group and regain their respect from the other world nations, and remind the world powers who we are.

I think our government officials need to get there hands out of the lobbyist and corporate pockets, and do the jobs they are supposed to. In some cases, the United States needs to stop playing the Worlds Big Brother, and let them take care of themselves. We can't fix everyone's problems in the world, because, we can't even fix our own. We need to look within, before we can look out.
