Is the ops core helmet not allowed in regular units ?

Not that i want to go out and spend 1000 dollars on a helmet but i've seen some people in some regular infantry units outside of SOF wearing them, just wondering is that even allowed ?

Depends on SOP really. They are approved for combat and dont invalidate your life insurance, but I don't see many 11 or 19 series CSMs not having a coronary in seeing a different helmet.

Wear is dependent on several things. Has to be approved by the service. Has to be an issue item. Unit has to approve it's wear. Example- When Gortex 1st came out, LTG said no one would wear it until it had been issued down to the units.

It depends on if the commander and 1st shot allows it. It's the same as wearing plate carriers instead of the iotv. I all depends if the chain of command will allow it.
