Navy to Create Missile Defense Task Force in Europe

The Navy will create a task force for ballistic missile defense at its European headquarters here in an effort to consolidate command of new anti-missile ships and shore sites.

It is a good thing and really no matter where this may be will always have some political issues that come along with it.

Who cares if it causes political issues. Those politicians will go away every few years. The people who would otherwise be killed by the weapons those systems protect against are more important than some politician's career.

Quite frankly, this is a NATO job, and a job for the European Union, NOT the US Navy...

It's fine to provide self defense for our own units there, but how long will we continue to enrich the likes of Germany by providing their defense?

Let the EU military stand up for a change...

It is a good thing and it will cause political issues. We need to do it anyway, for self-defense.

Our current leaders seem to enjoy sidestepping important issues; both at home and abroad. But it seems to me, if we are to keep Europe free from oppression we need to keep the "bear" at bay. The missile defence is probably the best way - another may be to elect leadership that actually says what they mean and stand by their word...
