Is the last FM or TC version of a manual still necessary when a new ATP version is put out for the same manual? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/is-the-last-fm-or-tc-version-of-a-manual-still-necessary-when-a-new-atp-version-is-put-out-for-the-same-manual <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Specifically, the newest version i can find of 3-20.98 is ATP 3-20.98 dated April 2013, but there is also still FM 3-20.98 dated August 2009. The problem is that the FM is about 3 times as long as the ATP. Is that normal for a new version to be condensed that much? They all cover different portions of the same types of operations. The number should still be the same to help you identify what those different pubs cover. Army Publishing Directorate does a pretty good job of identifying which pub is the most recent, and should be used.
