Is the housing market off post at Fort Campbell worth it for my wife and I?

I personally always proffered Government quarters. You save money no matter what you do, you are close to work hence close to your family. The time you will sacrifice in your career (from Family) is countered a bit by your ability to be home for a quick lunch, appointment with the kids etc. The time traveled to and from work, again Family time. You have to look at the whole picture.

CSM Darieus ZaGara I also preferred to live on base. That way when you leave you don't have to worry about selling. Almost went broke when I had problem selling a house and having to pay rent in Hawaii. Luckily COLA saved us.

I bought a great house on Washington Ave in Oak Grove for $90,000 ($628 mortgage), that house here in MT would cost me $180- $220k. I love the area and the ability to add value to a home is great. If you are going to be there for a while I'd buy.
