I never understood how the presidential debates ended up in the hands of the network news in the first place. Aren't new reporters supposed to observe and report on events rather than participate and guide them? FYI: The debates were ran by the League of Women voters who gave up their sponsorship in 2004 with the following statement: "The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public."Response by MSgt James Mullis made Oct 30 at 2015 5:36 PM2015-10-30T17:36:25-04:002015-10-30T17:36:25-04:00SGT Jeremiah B.1077915<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I think the divisive nature of today's politics is at play a little - The questions objected to were valid if inelegantly worded at times. Which side of the fence you're on will largely indicate how you felt about them.<br /><br />That said, I'd be okay with going to an actual debate format where the candidates are given a particular policy topic and then expected to argue their specific position (with challenges to each other) rather than moderators asking questions based on things the candidates have said in the past.Response by SGT Jeremiah B. made Oct 30 at 2015 6:31 PM2015-10-30T18:31:50-04:002015-10-30T18:31:50-04:00SSgt Private RallyPoint Member1077986<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Part of what makes a candidate shine is their ability to stand up to the opposition with viable and vibrant ideas to counter those who are against them. If you stick with those who are willing to pat you on the back, you don't grow and you don't showcase your viability as a candidate. So, no, they shouldn't nix their NBC run.Response by SSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 30 at 2015 7:24 PM2015-10-30T19:24:10-04:002015-10-30T19:24:10-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member1079350<div class="images-v2-count-1"><div class="content-picture image-v2-number-1" id="image-66292"> <div class="social_icons social-buttons-on-image">
