Is the current system for promotion boards better than the old point system? What would you change?

Before it was based on promotion points now it is based on pass or fail.

more points awarded. I am tired of putting so much effort into correspondence courses and getting only a couple of point out of each one. To max out, one needs 900 points. I'm at 429 now. On top of doing that, I have my job and college to do and take care of my family. I did 16 courses over two days and I averaged a total of 2.13 points from that. Its almost not worth it sometimes.
