Well, so most people perceive. Rarely, such as Emma Becker, a person commits so egregious an error that it can effect their real life, but for the most part, it's SAFE to say things that would likely get you knocked on your ass if you said them in person to another human being. Combine that with today's generation of entitled children and...you have the trolling and constant butthurt situation you're referring to. The 'all lives matter' one is particularly annoying to me. I enjoy conversations with people I do not agree with. This provides me with a different thought process and the ability to use my brain on a different level. If we can't learn to argue the world is going to become a more hostile place. Just because I don't agree with someone or something does not mean I hate them or they are less of a person than I am. I went into work
Ready to get started.. I look on the board and see my name on back-up and cleanup.. Ok.. if that’s how they want it !
So I did as told with a big smile.. and being cheerful. I was doing backup when the DH super and the Lt. Came in through the back.. We had no deliveries so back door was latchedso the Super let thrmin with his key.. “So how’d the pot pie casserole come out?” “You better ask SSGT J. Sarge, he had me on backup and kitchen cleanup “. The man wasn’t a happy camper.. and later he let the SSGT
Know it.. back in the office.. SSGT. Let him know why he did it.. From what the
Civ. Clerk said was s’thing about “letting butthurt cooks tell you how to run your shift .. and on and on..” she said it wasn’t too pretty .. SSGT Js Regular 1st Cook was off that day.. Actually we 3 got along really good.. I surmised SSGT buckled because the other Airmen complained. That they been there longer and .. (on and on).. I didn’t find out for a few days about outcome I’d. be off..my schedule got changed abruptly though.. actually that kinda made up after a 9 day run a few weeks ago because we had an alert.. but hey.. that’s the AF ! It’s what we do!..
I returned and seen I was the new 1st Cook... (I’d done it before when in the Reserves.. [we had a Supervisor wanted/ let us show what we were made of.. He says drills can be unpredictable s’times and he wanted to be prepared than be caught ‘not ready’]) and we had been a few times ... it happens ..! I’d run the shift a. few times too.. (Some might say it’s poor mgt... not knowing who’s dependable... I think it’s “having an ACE up one’s sleeve”)... The faces on them guys was “Priceless!”... The day went smooth. We got lunch out .. no hiccups..
The kitchen sparkly and shiny.. It was the talk of the.DH for a week.. some guys were butthurt they didn’t get to be 1sf Cook.. Nobody filed a formal complaint with the Chief (our CMSGT was on leave) and the Lt. We had a meeting later with the Lt. and the MSGT. ... Some clown asked a rep from the EOCC office .. That person left after a talk with the LT. and didn’t stay. (S’body must of really been butthurt!)... We found out later.. the guy who’d only been in the facility a short time
longer than myself (about 4 months)..
“Why do you think you should be 1st. Cook, Amn Mirelli.. well?”.. Too slow with his answer .. That meeting went well..
I did 1st C a few more times.. and SSGT J got his shift back.. days were found to rotate 1st C. Around.. A few guys weren’t ready..yet... accord’g to the DH Super.. and SSGT J. I think the butthurtedness was gone for awhile..Response by SSgt Boyd Herrst made Jan 15 at 2019 8:47 AM2019-01-15T08:47:13-05:002019-01-15T08:47:13-05:00LTC Jeff Shearer4288272

People have hurt or tried to hurt my feelings my entire life. Being able to consider differences and have a polite discussion in an attempt to understand those differences and ultimately achieve acceptance is difficult for some. I find every individual intriguing. We don’t experience and process everything the same way.

I grew up having friends who were different from one another and from me. I couldn’t have a birthday party because they couldn’t be in the same room together. I fired any friend who gave me an ultimatum, “if you’re going to be her friend, I can’t be your friend.” My answer was, “a true friend wouldn’t ask me to do that...buh bye.” People who are not like me make conversations endless, comical, and interesting. In my view that is part of the Branch and how it teaches to be tolerant of and embrace other peoples viewpoints and opinions AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT PROFOUNDLY STUPID. Such as an LT using part of his platoon as a decoy for the opposing force. Anyhow, if you ever leave the service here is a real life example of what you can look forward to. I came across this jewel from a neighbor on the NEXT DOOR application. Which is an internet application that serves as a kind of electronic BBS for helping, assisting and communicating with your neighbors (it is nice most of the time but also suffers from the pitfalls of social media). Being in North Texas we have the 1 each issue of the idiot like the guy on stripes that wants to kill anyone that gets near him with his hand gun (we are on city sized lots and I try to tell the guy discharge of a pistol with such a low threshold for a reason would be stupid). But here is the best one posted by a cat lover who was having problems with rats in her yard. "I just don't understand why, these rats are afflicting me and all over my yard". Neighbor responds: "Don't you leave cat food out on your porch for stray cats". She responds back: "Yes but that is only cat food"......implying heavily she thinks the rats won't eat it or be attracted by it. So honestly how do you deal with that level of stupidity without being a little rough around the edges with your response? Which of course leads to hurt feelings. Here is my advice to you being in the Infantry branch. Stay away from the NEXTDOOR application, your only going to be shocked and at times frustrated by some of the trully remarkable comments you come across and worse they are from your neighbors........not someone anonymous on the internet (heh-heh).Response by SPC Erich Guenther made Oct 14 at 2019 4:48 AM2019-10-14T04:48:32-04:002019-10-14T04:48:32-04:002015-07-25T11:19:39-04:00
