Is my recruiter correct in saying that I do not have to attend basic again and that my AIT reclass is shorter because I am prior service?

hello, so I have been out of the army past my initial 8 year contract (honorably Discharged) and have been talking with a NG recruiter, I found a job I am interested in and qualify for and the recruiter told me that I would not have to attend basic again and that the AIT reclass is shorter because I am prior service, but when I try to research prior service retrain I see that many people say there is no such thing as a shorter training, and that they have to go through basic again after being out for so long (prior service business rules). what I like to know is are these things the recruiter tells me, can I have put in my contract or am I stuck just giving him the benefit of the doubt?

Depends on MOS but generally, yes.

It depends on the MOS but mostly yes but with national guard is different, if they have that MOS there in the state they may have a school for it at your main NG base it just depends. Is there an RTI in your State Where would you go to BLC?

I have never heard of anyone attending basic training a second time when going into the Guard/Reserve. Even folks switching branches. Unless you go USMC.

You will not have to attend Basic and you wouldn't be allowed to if you requested it. Also, it can't go into your contract. An enlistment/reenlistment contract is a legal document with strict guidelines as to what can be placed on it.
As for the AIT Reclass, it depends on the MOS. I'm not aware of any that are shorter because of your prior service, but some MOS's can be fast tracked through due to experience in the field.
