About $400-600 of what's left is eaten up in fuel, electricity, and water bills. Count on breaking about even most winter months and having a little extra in the summer. I have always appreciated living off post to keep by work and home lives more separate; if you're asking solely from the financial perspective, I'd say it's a wash.Response by MAJ Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 4 at 2018 1:25 AM2018-01-04T01:25:07-05:002018-01-04T01:25:07-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member3231594<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Absolutely if you find a place that provides heat. I lived one North Pole. When you move out of on base housing you will get hit for thousands of dollars no matter how good the condition is when you leave. Every Soldier I had did.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 6 at 2018 10:36 AM2018-01-06T10:36:52-05:002018-01-06T10:36:52-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member3231596<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’d check out what people go through when they leave. Whatever money doesn't get used for rent/bills etc you can put towards whatever. I was getting $1500 a month for BAH with rent being $950-then about $1050 4 years later.<br /><br />You have to be aware that assholes will plug their car in to your electricity post outside. Its annoying as fuck, but a lot of fun leaving at 5:30 and disconnecting their car because they're stealing. In reality all they would have to say is "Hey do you mind if I plug in?" and its a non issue.Response by SPC Brent Melton made Jan 10 at 2018 4:30 PM2018-01-10T16:30:28-05:002018-01-10T16:30:28-05:002018-01-02T13:13:22-05:00
