Is it true you can recommend a soldier for a med board?

I have a soldier who’s got a “Dead Man.” profile, and I over heard that depending on how long they have it for. You can recommend them to the commander to be Med borded. Is there any truth to this? If so what’s the process?

I believe it is up to his primary care manager.

No, only the PCM can recommend a MEB. An MEB can only be initiated by a permanent profile. You can't recommend a permanent profile to a provider any more than you could recommend a drivers license to a DMV.

Only the Primary Care Provider can recommend for a Med Board. If you have a Permanent Profile with a 3 or 4 in ANY of the PULHES categories, then a Med Board is to be initiated. A Permanent Profile with a 2 in any of the PUHLES will NOT generate a Med Board process.

More barracks lawyer gossip. Med boarding has zip and nothing to do with the commander or even the SMs chain of command. It is completely under the control and command of the SMs Primary Care Manager. There are guidelines even at that. Such as a permanent profile being mandatory and even in that, the PULHES ratings have to be specific.

Now, what a person CAN do is talk to the SMs commander who can then pick up the phone and talk to the SMs PCM and ask for a review, that MIGHT trigger a Med Board. But that is it.

Med boards are intimated by medical. The leadership does have input during that process when a non-medical assessment is gathered and submitted but the process is pretty much outside of the immediate workplace. This type of stuff is out of your scope.
