Sure. Bring them all home. They don't want us there. They're welcome to stand in the face of the Chinese threat on their own, if they wish. Just my opinion.

It's a mixed question for me. (1) My Granddad, Col White & Grandmother are buried there (2) When I was in the US Merchant Marines, bridging military cargo's in the pacific, It always "felt" safer to support from Okinawa than say Guam. (2) I joined my first American Legion post in Okinawa....always felt at home, there with the post leaders..many retired and working in community. Spc Giles..darn good question. Salutes jpw, SF, Ca.

No what must leave are perverted

who keep raping women or kids. A 4 star Admiral lost his job a decade ago saying after a U.S.M.C. gang rape that they could have gotten a prostitute for the same price as the rental car they acquired. Too many teens raped and Okinawa is fed up!

The place must be strategically worth it to continue to put up with all the BS generated by staying there over the years. The Okinawans were demonstrating outside the gates even when I was there and not much has changed along those lines. What surprised me was US leaving PI. Thought that would be impossible but somehow we managed to survive. Can't say so about PI.

Ultimately China is going to control the entire area anyway so we might as well bail out now. The only thing that I would add is that when we leave an area all US money should go too and US facilities should be demolished.

North Korea, China, Russia. Okinawa has served as hub and strategic relay point since after the Battle of Okinawa. In the even that one of these three countries get trigger happy with missiles, surprise attacks, or a few other scenarios, you want III MEF and Air Force's 18th Wing on Okinawa to act as the advanced shield. Our presence on Okinawa has arguably kept Okinawa and Japan out of the hands of these other countries and our partnership has fostered technological growth, trade, and maintained peace in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Yes we have been there since 1945 and have worn out our welcome by the Okinawans. The latest rape and murder of a young Okinawan girl by a US Contractor and former Marine has the country in a turmoil. Since 1972 Americans have omitted 6000 crimes including Murder, Rape, Drunk Driving, Thefts, and Assaults. A record we should think about and ask what the hell has been going on in Okinawa?? Camp Foster Base Commander has ordered some changes be made immediately but this is too little too late as far as the Okinawan.. government is concerned
