Is it really necessary to remove or rename historical symbols? They are a part of our history.

I think it is rediculous that this is even an issue. This historical landmarks are exactly that, our History. To erase history is to forget what got us to this point in time. Forgetting history is a recipe for repeating it, making the same mistakes of the past.

No, NO and HELL NO!
I think that they all need to stay right where they are. If anything, they will be a reminder of what was...what happened...how it happened...what the end result was...and WHAT NOT to do in the future. Leaving these things in place will be good for our kids, and their kids and future generations to remember what events took place....all of the lives lost and over what and how to prevent it from ever happening again.

When the people of the State of Alaska have asked to restore the mountains name to it's original name Denali for more than 50 years . When congress gave it the name for a Ohio president who was responsible for the war of 1898 Spanish - American War his name should have been placed on a land marks of one of the countries that was seized in that war or to a land mark in his home state . Not to a landmark in Alaska , a sacred mountain to the native people of Alaska who named it the Great One "Denali" long before outsiders came to Alaska .

Complete knee-jerk, playing to the crowd nonsense, BS overkill!!! Everyone needs to take a deep breath, down a valium and let this uber-fart dissipate in the crowd before doing anything. This is nothing more than political grandstanding like yelling fire in a crowded room and trying to charge a fee for exiting the building.

Well, I would normally say no. But, seeing how society acts today.....that has become the expected norm the minute a person is insulted/offended by something.
