We are currently working on trying to upgrade it to a "Honorable Discharge". Has anyone had experience with this process? This can be very difficult, especially for folks whose records were lost in the National Archives fire.

For Post 9/11 vets, the Wounded Warrior Project is very adept at this. Your step-father's records should be researched prior to attempting to plow through even more red tape. e.g. If your step father's discharged was up-graded as a condition of his separation, you're probably at a dead-end. Just curious, what's driving this?
