If you're walking out of the Army as an 11B without at least a Ranger Tab I wouldn't expect to access into a program directly from recruiting, you would probably have to enlist in a new MOS or as an "unrated" for a while before being eligible to attend a selection.<br /><br />But, why would anyone do that? The Army has the largest special operations community in the DOD. You want to shoot people in the face and conduct raids? We have the 75th Rangers. You want to work with indigenous people? We have SF. You want to blow stuff up? All services go to the exact same EOD school. You want to be on the Presidents direct line? We have Delta. The decision on whether Delta or the SEAL Team Six get the call pretty much comes down to whether the Joint Chief of Staff at that time is an Army General or a Navy Admiral at the time.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 26 at 2021 12:12 PM2021-11-26T12:12:52-05:002021-11-26T12:12:52-05:00LTC Eugene Chu7391817<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>What are your ASVAB scores? Are you medically fine? Do you have any derogatory issues that a background check would reveal?<br /><br />The occupations that you list include stringent requirements in order to be considered. EOD requires over 105 GM score, normal color vision and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance among other criteria. SEAL and SWCC also have a tough selection course intended to weed out weaker candidates before starting BUDS or CQT.Response by LTC Eugene Chu made Nov 26 at 2021 2:49 PM2021-11-26T14:49:02-05:002021-11-26T14:49:02-05:00PO1 Jamie Springman7391844<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know that you can't go into the Navy straight into the programs you want. You have to join the Navy and then volunteer to go through the training. I was never one of them and I don't know of any of their training but I can say that it is not easy to get in to. I passed all of the assessments but there are only so many slots. Honestly, the Army is a better place if you want to be in a specialized unit. If you have not realized I am an infantry officer now. I decided to take a different route. I have seen many try to go to specialized units but most of these places want those that are bringing qualifications. As mentioned before, they want those with tabs, badges, and deployments. The wash out rate is so high in these that they only send those that prove they can make it. I still believe you can if you try. I hope it works better for you than it did for me but I will say I am glad it didn't work out.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 26 at 2021 8:24 PM2021-11-26T20:24:20-05:002021-11-26T20:24:20-05:00SFC Ralph E Kelley7392239<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Go SOGResponse by SFC Ralph E Kelley made Nov 26 at 2021 9:16 PM2021-11-26T21:16:18-05:002021-11-26T21:16:18-05:002021-11-26T09:21:46-05:00
