Is it possible to switch from national guard to active duty before I leave for basic?

I was on the fence about guard vs active duty and leaned more towards active duty but my recruiter was kind of pushy about me joining the guard, I later found out he was changing from recruiting to retention so he wanted to meet a quota, I was also told I would be able to use my GI bill right after basic which I later found out was bull, my whole reason joining the guard before active duty was to do college but I can’t, Is there a way to switch to active duty if I haven’t gone to basic yet, but did swear in?

PVT (Join to see) Yes, I did this going from Air Force NG to Army Active. Kind of a dirt bag move but I did but you can do it they just take over your packet. I did it because I got laid of my job at the time in 2010 and wanted stability for my family. Like LTC (Join to see) said talk to an AD recruiter.

Since I don’t leave for basic till August and gave them enough time the AD recruiter gave me a packet to fill out, I informed my NG recruiter what’s happening and got the ball rolling thank you!

Hope you see this in time, Its been a process, ive been in contact with an AD army recruiter and he tells me not to ship for basic and they will get the wait to enlist in ad army waived, but the national guard is threatening to put a warrant out for my arrest if i don't ship to basic.

PVT (Join to see) Bring that up to your AD Recruiter so he can bring it to the attention of his COC who can contact the NG COC. That’s about all I can suggest onless some other members have some insight.

It's possible. You need to contact an AD recruiter. You will need a DD Form 368 Conditional Release, which must be signed by your first general level officer in the chain of command (usually TAG). This form will remain valid for six months from the date it was signed. The AD recruiter will assist you in filling out the form, but you'll have to route it through your NG chain of command.

So the national guard is refusing to separate me so my active duty recruiter told me to just not ship, I know it’s a bad move but the guard isn’t for me and active duty would benefit me a lot more.

My army recruiter got all my paperwork, just need to be released from the guard, I was told to keep reminding my national guard recruiter that I’m not shipping out to basic for the guard (I won’t get in any legal trouble, will just have to wait 6 months to join the army, but the army is going to waive the 6 months because i have a paper trail that I wanted to and am joining active duty)

PVT (Anonymous)] I stuck and don’t know what to do, but I don’t like my current MOS in national Guard therefore I wanna to switch to active duty. On the other hand, National guard probably won’t allow me to change my MOS in, otherwise I would just change my MOS and would stay in guard instead of going to active
