SPC Private RallyPoint Member7774738

Hey guys, SPC Torres here. I am currently in the IRR and have been looking into serving in the reserves. My plan is to reclass and move to Germany. The MOS which I am interested in reclassing into is currently not available in Germany and there's no current reserve unit for it in said country. Would I still be able to serve under a different unit in the country since the MOS falls under the Intelligence command and there are intel MOSs currently available in the country? Is it possible to move over to a state or country, serve in that place in the reserves, while your MOS is not available in that place?2022-07-14T22:57:58-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member7774738

Hey guys, SPC Torres here. The RC is able to substitute some MOS's within the same CMF.

Also, you can't reclass and move to Germany, you'll need to move to Germany then reclass. The unit in germany may not be willing to pay for anyone to reclass. Or you can join a unit locally, wait until you go to reclass school, then move. That may take a year or two.

I'm sure you already know this, but just in case, you can't move to Germany under the reserves. You'll need to obtain a visa and gainful civilian employment in order to be eligible to move there, be a resident, and serve in the USAR there.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 15 at 2022 1:44 AM2022-07-15T01:44:54-04:002022-07-15T01:44:54-04:00SGM Mikel Dawson7775296

Yes, there is an Army Reserve Command , HQ in K-town. It is a lot different today than when I was in. I was stationed in Berlin, Heidelberg, Weisdaden, Hanau, Mannheim. Deployed 3 times. At that time the Reserve units were directly attached to Active Duty units, we were considered forward deployed units. There were also lots of oppertunities to work with NATO countries as well. Go to the link, all the contact information is there. I moved to Denmark, finished my time with the Army Reserve in Germany. https://www.usar.army.mil/Commands/Geographic/7th-MSC/7th-MSC-Units/
