If a SPC has the requisite TIS/TIG to be integrated onto the Command List Integration (CLI) and his/her MOS is a STAR MOS, then gets promoted, that promotion is just as valid as someone who went to the board and made points. That's how the CLI and STAR MOS system works. Your leaders don't seem to know how promotions work.<br /><br />Reducing someone requires a valid reason, and a reduction board, unless the promotion was erroneous, then it's paperwork for the S-1 Section. Remember Elvis Presley -- made E-5 before his two years were over. Actually, I knew at least two Draftees who were promoted to Sergeant during their two years. Neither one of them was a good NCO or even an adequate leader. I don't think either of them attended NCO Academy. They both just happened to be at the right place at the right time. These things happened prior to America's major involvement in South Vietnam & are irrelevant to this discussion but someone might find it interesting.Response by SPC John Parmenter made Apr 4 at 2017 2:28 PM2017-04-04T14:28:25-04:002017-04-04T14:28:25-04:001SG(P) Private RallyPoint Member2471275<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>That SPC should be good to go just like everyone had stated.Response by 1SG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 4 at 2017 4:56 PM2017-04-04T16:56:56-04:002017-04-04T16:56:56-04:00SGT Christopher Hayden2471479<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Ask Bowe Bergdahl.Response by SGT Christopher Hayden made Apr 4 at 2017 6:33 PM2017-04-04T18:33:13-04:002017-04-04T18:33:13-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member2471802<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I know a SGT and become a SSG via battlefield promotion... he did not go to the board or have the points if I remember correctly.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 4 at 2017 9:09 PM2017-04-04T21:09:49-04:002017-04-04T21:09:49-04:00LCDR Keith Trepanier2473290<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I actually was promoted to E-5 from E-3 without a promotion board. But the circumstances were not normal. I had been in the Army for about a year and half and had been trying to get promoted to E-4 and was a good soldier but the command knew I was trying to go to flight school and "didn't want to waste the slot" on me. So I was stuck as an E-3 for a while longer than my peers. Then I was selected for flight training and had to be an E-5 to attend.<br /><br />The command felt bad that I had been stuck as a PFC so they promoted me to E-5 a month earlier than they were supposed to. So I got to be a Sergeant at my unit for a while before I left. It was certainly a surprise to some of the E-4s who had been jerks to me up until that day.Response by LCDR Keith Trepanier made Apr 5 at 2017 1:07 PM2017-04-05T13:07:47-04:002017-04-05T13:07:47-04:001SG Private RallyPoint Member2474883<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Unfortunately yes!Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 6 at 2017 2:24 AM2017-04-06T02:24:19-04:002017-04-06T02:24:19-04:00SGT Rick Toole2479760<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The new snowflake Army.
