I was really hoping to land an AGR job because I felt it was more suitable for my plans. Is it possible to still do so? Is it possible to go from Regular Army to AGR before your assignment is up? 2017-10-06T00:47:49-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 2974413

I finished my obligation with the Army National Guard and decided to reenlist into Active Duty instead of ETSing. I don't know if you could get a conditional release from your contract in this case. However, I have been in hybrid AC/RC units where an active duty Soldier is loaned to a subordinate RC unit to fill a full time need. My OC/T support unit had a SGM loaned to them for about 8 months to fill the BN CSM position.

I don't know how long you have until you ETS, but maybe you can convince the appropriate parties that you can serve in a similar capacity until you ETS, then apply to fill the position. However, I imagine these situations would be very uncommon.
