I realized I didn’t get the job I wanted neither am I active duty but signed a reserved contract which was a mistake on my part .I am interested in the Marine Corps because of a job that I specifically want and know I can get immediately . I want to know Is it possible to get out of the DEP and go to another branch without getting a record on me or getting frowned upon by the military . I am 23 so I’m not getting any younger and I know the cut off age for the Marines is 29Is it possible to get out of the DEP and go to another branch without getting a record on me or getting frowned upon by the military?2019-02-15T02:28:15-05:00HN Private RallyPoint Member4369477<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I just enlisted with the Navy and I’m in the DEP program right now . If you change your mind again all services will treat you as damaged goods and you won't be able to join any branch.Response by TSgt Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 15 at 2019 1:28 PM2019-02-15T13:28:55-05:002019-02-15T13:28:55-05:00MSgt Michael Smith4370841<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You can leave the DEP any time you want with no negative effects. Tell your recruiter what you want and insist on it. It's YOUR decision. Until you swear-in the day you leave for basic you are a free person.Response by MSgt Michael Smith made Feb 15 at 2019 2:18 PM2019-02-15T14:18:56-05:002019-02-15T14:18:56-05:00SSgt Dan Montague4371955<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Be respectful to your recruiter. They will try to resell you and may get pissed. Leaving the DEP is possible, but not that easy. Your DEP contract is 1 year with the prospective service. The Navy must DEP discharge you in order for you cross deck over to the Marines. Being in the DEP doesn't mean you are obligated by contract to ship.<br />Start by talking to the Marine recruiter. Maybe they have it in good with the Navy recruiter. <br />Good luckResponse by SSgt Dan Montague made Feb 15 at 2019 11:49 PM2019-02-15T23:49:41-05:002019-02-15T23:49:41-05:002019-02-15T02:28:15-05:00
