Is it possible to get a waver for asthma if so what are the requirements?

I have been wondering if it's possible to get a waver for asthma for some one who is presently severing. If it is what is the process and requirements to obtain it. Any information on the matter is helpful.

The Army used to put people out in Hawaii for getting "exercise-induced asthma." They stopped the practice during the war years, and have modified the issue. Please see the article below:

I am in the Army with asthma and currently serving. Came back from my second deployment to Afghanistan and at 29 acutely developed asthma. Luckily it wasn't severe. If you were Army I would tell you to refer to AR 40-501 and that you have to be able to take a full APFT without alternate event. If your asthma is bad enough that you cannot pass the run you can pick between being chaptered for the APFT failure or getting a P3, which would most likely lead to a medical separation. The Air Force is probably similar.

You will have to bring in a diagnosis from your civilian health provider. They will assess your information at the clinic, more than likely perform a Physical Evaluation Board of you remain on the meds or have the diagnosis for over 12 months. PEB generally accepts the diagnosis and risk but will remove OCONUS from the world wide deployment options unless the gaining unit specifically accepts the risk of you. Also, on asthma inhaler meds, your precluded from the run portion of the pt test and will have to do the 2km walk.

I was MEB'd for asthma and returned to duty. The biggest thing is that it has to be controlled and will lead you to be C2 Coded.
