Perhaps I’ve seen too many Tom Clancy movies, but that’s my opinion.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 18 at 2015 3:13 PM2015-11-18T15:13:40-05:002015-11-18T15:13:40-05:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member1117048<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>If put in the right spot, yes it can be.Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 18 at 2015 3:13 PM2015-11-18T15:13:54-05:002015-11-18T15:13:54-05:00PVT Robert Gresham1117084<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="489385" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/489385-spc-andrew-griffin">SPC Andrew Griffin</a> Richard Reid, the infamous "Shoe Bomber" (2001) had only 10 ounces of explosives in his shoes. I would venture a guess that you could fit somewhat more into a 12 ounce soda can. Ten ounces of explosive, however, would be enough to cause a rupture in the fuselage of an aircraft, with explosive decompression likely finishing the job.Response by PVT Robert Gresham made Nov 18 at 2015 3:27 PM2015-11-18T15:27:25-05:002015-11-18T15:27:25-05:00SSG Keith Fosmire1117262<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have seen a coffee can size IED rip through an up armored vehicle. Even with a primitive explosive like black powder. proper placement of the explosive device can be devastating. Think about it this way. a m-60 firecracker is just a firecracker, and makes a bang when it goes off, and it's not very powerful. Now, if you make a fist around that m-60, and lite the fuse, you have just obliterated your hand. Same thing goes for the above described IED. If place in a strategic location like the fuel line, control panel, engine, etc, it can be devastating to the functionality of the aircraft.Response by SPC Joseph Plunkett made Nov 18 at 2015 5:49 PM2015-11-18T17:49:18-05:002015-11-18T17:49:18-05:002015-11-18T14:39:01-05:00
